Detailed Updates for Each Golf Course

1. Kazusa Country Club

CLOSED — Reopening Date Unknown

Kazusa Country Club has suffered significant damage from the typhoon. Nearby roads have been closed, and damage has also been reported within the golf course.

The club remains closed while safety inspections and recovery work continue. No reopening date has been announced.

Even after the course itself is repaired, access roads will also need to be safe before golfers can return.

Official information: Kazusa Country Club — Latest Notices

2. Chiba Yomiuri Country Club

CLOSED THROUGH OCTOBER 31

This is probably the golf course that GOL Yome and I have played most often.

When I called the club, I was told that landslides and other damage had occurred within the course.

On September 26, the club officially announced that it would remain closed through October 31.

Since we have played here so many times, this extended closure is particularly concerning. We hope the course can recover and welcome golfers again soon.

3. Tokyo Bay Country Club

PARTIALLY OPEN — KURANAMI COURSE CLOSED

Tokyo Bay Country Club has 27 holes across three nine-hole courses.

The Kuranami Course is temporarily closed because of severe typhoon damage. Golfers can still play the other courses, although some reservations and course rotations have been changed.

There is another important issue for anyone planning to visit: transportation.

JR’s Uchibo Line has been disrupted, and the club has warned that surrounding roads are extremely congested because local residents are using cars for commuting and school transportation.

The club’s morning shuttle bus service to and from Nagaura Station has also been suspended until further notice.

If you are driving from Tokyo or Yokohama, allow significantly more travel time than usual.

4. Hanao Country Club

OPEN — ROAD CLOSURES NEARBY

Hanao Country Club is operating, but some roads around the course remain closed.

For golfers driving from Tokyo via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, the club recommends checking its published alternative route via the Ichihara Tsurumai Interchange.

Even under normal conditions, there is quite a long drive on local roads after leaving the expressway.

This time, I would definitely recommend leaving earlier than usual and checking road conditions before departure.

5. Ichihara Golf Club

RECOVERY WORK UNDERWAY AT BOTH COURSES

Ichihara Golf Club is another place where GOL Yome and I have played many rounds.

Ichihara Course

The club announced that the Ichihara Course would remain closed through September 28.

Power outages and safety inspections are affecting recovery work. Operations from September 29 onward will depend on the progress of repairs.

Kakinokidai Course

Kakinokidai Course was also closed following the typhoon. The club has issued separate information regarding operations from September 28 onward.

If you have a reservation, check the latest notice for the specific course you are planning to play.

6. Taiheiyo Club Ichihara Course

REPORTED TO BE OPEN

Although several courses in the Ichihara area remain closed, Taiheiyo Club Ichihara Course is reported to be operating.

It is interesting to see how differently golf courses in the same area have been affected by the typhoon.

7. Mangijo Country Club

NORMAL OPERATIONS REPORTED

According to the information available on the club’s website, Mangijo Country Club appears to be operating normally.

As with all courses in the affected area, it is still worth checking for any last-minute changes before making the trip.

8. Manna Country Club

CLOSURE EXTENDED

Manna Country Club initially planned to remain closed through September 27, but the closure has been extended.

The club’s official information confirmed a closure on September 28, while the information we received indicates that September 29 will also be affected.

The full extent of the damage has not been confirmed, but recovery work appears to be taking longer than initially expected.

9. Golden Cross Country Club

REOPENED ON SEPTEMBER 26

Golden Cross Country Club was affected by the typhoon, including reported power outages.

Fortunately, the club announced that normal operations resumed on September 26.

With so many courses still recovering, it is encouraging to see one of our familiar golf destinations reopening.

10. Belle Selva Country Club Ichihara Course

CLOSED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30 — POSSIBLE EXTENSION

This is one of the golf courses where I am scheduled to play in a company golf event in late October.

The club announced a temporary closure from September 22 through September 30 due to power outages and road restrictions following the typhoon.

It has also warned that the closure may be extended beyond October 1 depending on the progress of repairs.

There is still some time before our event, but I will certainly be watching for updates.

Note: The closure notice is available on the golf course’s booking page.

11. Boso Country Club

NORMAL OPERATIONS REPORTED

We used to play at Boso Country Club quite often.

I particularly remember the East Course. It is long and can be quite challenging, especially when your driver is not cooperating!

The club is reported to be operating normally, and its website also includes information about the resumption of its shuttle bus service.

12. Toyo Country Club

SPECIAL PLAY FORMAT REPORTED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30

Toyo Country Club has reportedly adopted a rather unusual way of operating while recovering from the typhoon.

According to the information we received, the club is using seven holes from the OUT course and four holes from the IN course.

Golfers play this 11-hole combination twice, completing a total of 22 holes instead of the usual 18.

OUT COURSE
7 Holes
IN COURSE
4 Holes
11 Holes × 2 Rounds = 22 Holes

That is certainly a creative solution!

Since this is different from a standard round of golf, it would be worth checking the green fee, expected playing time and exact format before booking.

Official website: Toyo Country Club

Note: The special 11-hole format is based on information we received. We have not independently confirmed its details on the official website. Please contact the club for the latest arrangements.

13. Golf5 Country Oak Village

REPORTEDLY CLOSED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30

This is a challenging golf course with plenty of water hazards.

Personally, I always find that the many ponds and carefully placed hazards make it difficult to play a relaxed round here!

The club initially planned to reopen on September 29, but recovery work has reportedly taken longer than expected.

The closure has therefore been extended through September 30, with operations expected to resume from October 1 if conditions permit.

If you are planning to play here, make sure you check the latest announcement before leaving home.

14. Morinaga Takataki Country Club

REPORTEDLY CLOSED THROUGH OCTOBER 1

One thing I always remember about this course is receiving Morinaga sweets!

The club is reportedly closed through October 1 following the typhoon.

Nearby Kazusa Country Club has not yet announced a reopening date, showing how recovery progress can vary even between courses in the same general area.

However, we have not confirmed the full extent of the damage at either club.

Important: Check Road and Train Conditions Before Traveling

Even if your golf course is open, getting there may be more difficult than usual.

Typhoon No. 25 has disrupted local rail services and caused road closures across parts of Chiba Prefecture.

Sections of the JR Uchibo Line remain suspended. This has increased traffic on local roads, with more people traveling by car or being driven to work and school.

Tokyo Bay Country Club has specifically warned golfers about heavy congestion, while Hanao Country Club has published information about road closures and alternative routes.

Our advice for golfers traveling from Tokyo or Yokohama
  • Confirm that your golf course is operating before departure.
  • Check whether your reserved course or starting nine has changed.
  • Check expressway and local road restrictions.
  • Allow extra driving time, even if you normally know the route well.
  • If you are traveling by train, confirm that your rail service and the golf club’s shuttle bus are operating.

Hoping to See All These Courses Reopen Soon

Looking at just the 14 golf clubs we regularly visit, it is clear that the typhoon has had a major impact on golf in Chiba.

We are especially concerned about Chiba Yomiuri Country Club, where we have played countless rounds over the years.

Some clubs have already reopened, but many are still working hard to repair their courses and facilities.

We sincerely hope that all affected golf courses and local communities can recover soon.

We look forward to enjoying golf in Chiba again.
